Praise be to Allah. We worship Him alone, offering Him sincere devotion; we praise Him, repent to Him, and seek His forgiveness. Thanks are due to Him in this world and in the Hereafter; to Him are the decree, and to Him all people will return.
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, who has no partners. And I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger and servant of Allah. He (Salla Allahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) sacrificed all things for the protection of Islam and blocked any avenue that led to polytheism. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad, his family and his relatives, his Companions, his Companions’ successors, and all those who followed their example until the Day of Judgment.
Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah as He should be feared and always be conscious of Him.
Fellow Muslims! Man, by his nature, will always aim for the best in terms of worldly happiness and peace of mind and this has always been the case throughout history. Man has attempted to achieve this aim with his own intelligence and philosophy but has failed miserably due to his limited capabilities and inherent weaknesses. Happiness can only be achieved by maintaining contact with Allaah and this can only be done by following His book and the path of His Messenger sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. He says that which translates as:“…And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray (in this world) nor suffer (in the hereafter). And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed he will have a depressed (i.e. difficult) life, and We will gather (i.e. raise) him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” (Taa Haa: 123-124).
Islaam is the only existing religion that is perfect and the Qur’aan is the only existing divine scripture. Islaam is the only religion that Allaah has chosen for mankind. It is the only perfect and complete faith and Allaah will not accept any other religion beside it.
The greatest statement of Islaam is: “There is nothing worthy of worship except Allaah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah.” These words demand that the one saying them must not seek any deity, judge or protector except Allaah. It also demands that we believe in the message that Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam conveyed and that that whatever he brought was the truth that we must believe in and follow. Allaah says that which translates as: “It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should (thereafter) have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger has indeed strayed into clear error.” (Al Ahzaab: 36).
Muslims should therefore follow the injunctions of Allaah and His Messenger in every aspect of their religious and worldly lives; this is exactly what early generations of Muslims did and this is the basis upon which the reformers of Islaam carried out their blessed and excellent work.
Among the most successful of reformers in this regard was Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhaab who was one of the most distinguished leaders in knowledge, methodology of Da’wah and understanding of Islamic law. His Da’wah was unique in the sense that Allaah helped him with a political power that co-operated with him in fulfilling his mission. This political power was integrated into the Da’wah, for it did not support it for political interests. The two Imaams Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhaab and Muhammad ibn Sa’ood then agreed to establish a historical movement that knows no time or geographical boundary and that still continues till this very day solely for the purpose of elevating the religion of Allaah and to make people believe in His oneness in all acts of worship and belief in His names and attributes. They strove in order for Allaah to be worshipped with all sincerity without associating any partners with Him.
As for the state, they endeavoured that all its policies be in accordance with the law of Allaah. They promoted Islamic knowledge, enjoined all that is good, forbade all that is evil and made sure that all their religious obligations and rights were carried out in the best possible way. They promoted Islamic manners in dressing, eating and greeting and other areas. The scholars were given regards due by them and the way of the Salaf (first three generations of Muslim) was visibly exemplified.
The movement promoted by these two Imaams never bowed to the modern civilisation of the day. It defended Islaam and explained its true form to people and the state was founded upon this noble call and is still putting all its efforts in the service of Islam and the Muslims.
The two powers of Da’wah and the state have succeeded in reforming the Muslims and propagating a way of life and controlling it in a manner that is in accordance with the Qur’aan and Sunnah.
Fellow Muslims! These are the obvious truths about this state. We do not claim perfection, but one fact is clear; this country owes a responsibility to the whole Muslim world. It is the cradle of revelation and the country which contains the two Holy Mosques, which are the holiest Muslim places of worship on the face of the earth.
Every observer will see that the voice that comes from this holy place is one that protects the world Muslim community and wins for it the due respect.
Fellow Muslims! It is the power, clear goals and belief in its cause that characterises this country that make some foreign media attack Islaam, the Muslims and this country in particular. This is due to their ignorance of Islaam and the fact that most of the mass media is controlled by the Jews.
Also, we observe that when a Muslim refuses to adopt an alien culture and wishes to adhere to Islaam that he becomes the subject of accusations and injustice. This is in fact a narrow-minded and hostile way of dealing with others which is far from truthfulness, respect and tolerance.
O wise people! Let us keep away from sowing hatred, discord and agitation among people. Let us give wisdom a chance. Let us not deal in conjecture, but with sensible opinion and common sense, for it is by these that nations should live. Allaah says that which translates as: “And judge, [O Muhammad] between them by what Allaah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allaah has revealed to you. And if they turn away – then know that Allaah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient. Then is it the judgement of [the time of] ignorance they desire? But who is better than Allaah in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith].” (Al-Maa’idah: 49-50).
All the praise is due to almighty Allah, and may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon prophet Muhammad and all prophets of Allah.
Brothers in faith! Islaam is a power in itself. It is the natural and the true religion that is the fastest growing in the world today, despite the material enticements of today’s civilisation and the weakness of the Muslims. This country represents the power of Islam and made Islaam the foundation of its strength and identity. As a matter of fact, Islaam is not merely part of its character, but rather its very soul upon which its entire life is based and any attempt to change this status will be vehemently opposed.
Dear Brothers! In view of the present world crisis whereby everyone is expressing their opinions under the influence of ulterior motives, where then are the resolute ones? Where are the people of understanding who can regulate and counter all these biased reactions?
Brothers in faith! There is about to come upon us a great season that brings with it the power of faith for the believers, who abstain from their enjoyments for the sake of their Lord. It is a month of patience; a month of glory and honour; a month of victory and conquest. Let us therefore receive this month with righteous deeds.
